Leach's Storm-Petrel (Oceanodroma leucorhoa)

Description: An attractive white-rumped tubenose that breeds in large numbers in Newfoundland, including approx. 3.5 millions pairs on Baccalieu Island. Coming to the colony under cover of darkness, this bird is seldom seen in daylight by birdwatchers except when it is stranded ashore after storms.

Size: Length 8", Wingspan 20"
